Valerie Grossman PhD
Founder & CEO
Val Grossman,PhD Founder & CEODr. Valerie Grossman has extensive experience in international development, as well as a strong background in education, mediation, strategic planning, and consulting. Her approach to international development is based in the understanding that people usually know what their issues are. Her consulting philosophy stresses development from the grass roots, integrating technology and systems into the existing societal culture. With meaningful participation and collaboration in developing solutions to mutually identified issues, sustainable positive results are attained.

She is a Director of Health InternSpan International and a member of several organizations including the Alberta Arbitration & Mediation Society, and the Arbitration & Mediation Institute of Canada. She is also Associate Faculty in the Master of Arts in Leadership program at Royal Roads University.

Dr. Grossman holds a doctorate in Human and Organization Systems from Fielding Graduate University, a Master of Arts in Organization Development, a Master of Arts in Applied Behavioral Sciences, a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Administration, and a Bachelor of Education.

She resides in Calgary, Canada.

Jim Katzenstein PhD
Director, Operations,

Jim Katzenstein PhD Director,Operations Corporate SecretaryDr. Katzenstein  uses cutting edge leadership models and a unique consulting strategy that  guides international groups of equal partners in a collaborative effort from which creative healthcare solutions emerge. He is the founder and Executive Director of HealthSpan International, which utilizes educational infrastructure, low technology communications systems and a collaborative knowledge-sharing model to assist people in developing countries to become more self-reliant. Dr. Katzenstein is a member of the American Telemedicine Association and is the past chair of its Human Factors Special Interest Group. He has extensive senior management experience at companies such as Keebler Foods, Laura Scudder’s Inc., A& P Grocery, and General Cinema Corporation and teaches Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Dr. Katzenstein holds a Doctorate in organization systems and a Masters in organization development, from Fielding Graduate University and an MBA from the University of Bridgeport. He has collaborated on two books and published numerous articles about the use of information technology in developing countries. He has spoken at conferences throughout the world. He resides in Mission Viejo, California.


Ron Jacobsen
Director, Marketing

Mr. Jacobsen is Vice President/Investment Advisor with CIBC Wood Gundy, a division of CIBC World Markets Incorporated and has over 30 years experience in the financial services industry. He is active in coaching minor sports and has extensive experience with numerous community associations, service clubs and sporting associations.

He enjoys all sports and has traveled extensively. Ron is married with three children.


Sheldon Roth PhD
Director, Research

Dr. Sheldon H. Roth BSc MSc PhD is a Professor in the Departments of Pharmacology & Therapeutics and Anesthesia, Member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, Head of the Division of Toxicology, in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Calgary. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Environmental Design, and Senior Fellow in the Institute for Sustainable Energy, Environment and Economy at the University of Calgary. He has held a number of positions in professional societies such as the Society of Toxicology of Canada, recently President and Past-President. For the past several years he has been an Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology. Dr. Roth is an active researcher and teacher in both toxicology and pharmacology at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels. In addition to his teaching activities, he has been active in the development of curriculum. He has been involved in medical research for over three decades with interest in neuropharmacology, environmental toxicology, and medical pharmacology including cellular and molecular mechanisms of anesthetic agents. His research in neurotoxicology focuses on the effects of various atmospheric pollutants such as hydrogen sulphide, sour gas, aerosols and volatile organic compounds on developing and mature nervous systems. He has collaborated in his research with investigators in North America, Europe, and Japan. Dr. Roth has served on a number of academic, government and industrial environmental committees at the provincial, national and international level. He has been a reviewer for numerous granting agencies and journals and supervised many graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.


Mitchell Grossman
Director, Chief Financial Officer,

Mitchell Grossman was a senior executive with a major publicly held real estate corporation with holdings throughout North America. In that capacity he was involved with the development of numerous regional shopping complexes across North America and held executive and directorship positions with trade organizations relative to the development industry. Mr. Grossman is currently involved in management and financial planning. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration and resides in Calgary, Canada.
